Nottingham

A City Without a Cathedral

Nottingham is associated with the legend of Robin Hood and is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Historically Nottingham was an Anglo Saxon market town and today has the oldest market town centre in the United Kingdom. Unlike other cities Nottingham does not have a cathedral. Its city status has only existed since 1897, where it was designated a city to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. However Nottingham has three large churches that date back to the Middle Ages. St Saviours Church with its grade 2 listing is part of this rich history.

There is plenty to see and do in Nottingham. There are two large theatres, Nottingham Playhouse and the Theatre Royal. There are also music venues that attract both international and national acts. Nottingham Rock City and Nottingham arena are both popular venues. Besides these venues there are numerous cultural tours and Trent Bridge cricket ground. With so much to do Soft Play centres are a great place to go with your kids to help them unwind as you earn a well-deserved rest.

Our Story – Why We Set Up

Well this is our blog, up and running, in the hope that we can communicate a little bit about what Eden Soft Play is about, what we’re doing and why. This explanation is important because we aren’t just a Soft Play Café; we’re also a social enterprise, working for the good of the people of Nottingham.

Our first three blog posts are about the story of our family café, why we started, how it’s gone so far and the challenges we face as a charitable business.

Did You Know…?

…Eden is more than just soft play.

A word from Dave Hammond, vicar at St Saviours:

Eden Soft play exists for the good of people in Nottingham, especially those in the Meadows.

St Saviour’s church wants to serve the area, and starting a soft play provided a space for healthy living for kids, a meeting place for parents and joy for everyone.
